Anthropic just released Claude Opus 4.8

Anthropic launched Claude Opus 4.8 on May 28, 2026, its most capable generally available model, with industry-leading scores on agentic coding, reasoning, financial analysis, and knowledge work. It comes at the same price as its predecessor ($5 per million input tokens, $25 per million output tokens) and includes a fast mode that runs at 2.5x the speed for a third of the previous cost.

The model supports a 1M token context window by default and 128k max output tokens. Anthropic also teased that Mythos-class models, a more powerful tier above Opus, are coming in the weeks ahead.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR WEBSITE AGENT-READY

The web is changing fast. AI-oriented bots now account for 4.2% of all HTML page requests, and crawler traffic grew 26% between May 2025 and May 2026. If your site isn't built with agents in mind, you're already behind.

This guide covers two layers, the page and the surrounding protocols, with practical steps like semantic HTML, robots.txt rules, llms.txt, markdown delivery, and APIs. Nearly 65% of AI bot log hits targeted content updated within the past year, so clean structure and fresh content are now table stakes.

ClickUp cut 22% of its workforce and replaced them with 3,000 AI agents

ClickUp cut 22% of its workforce, about 290 people, and replaced them with 3,000 AI agents, framing the move as building a "100x org." Surviving employees are being offered salary bands up to $1M in cash for creating "outsized impact using AI." ClickUp isn't alone, the tech industry has shed over 100,000 jobs across roughly 250 layoff events in 2026 so far, with Meta, Oracle, and GitLab all citing AI as justification.

A Gartner survey cited by TechCrunch found about 80% of companies using autonomous technology have already cut jobs, though the financial returns from those AI deployments are not yet materializing on the same timeline. What makes ClickUp stand out is the candor: where most CEOs reach for efficiency language, CEO Zeb Evans is explicitly calling the eliminated roles structurally obsolete.

Japan's new hypersonic engine could make 2-hour flights to the us a reality

A team from JAXA and three Japanese universities has completed a successful ground combustion trial of a ramjet engine designed for a Mach-5 hypersonic aircraft. The test subjected a two-meter-long vehicle to simulated Mach 5 conditions, where temperatures around the craft can reach 1,000°C, hot enough to melt standard aircraft metals.

JAXA says the technology could eventually support aircraft capable of crossing the Pacific in about two hours. Worth keeping in perspective though: this was a ground test, and commercial hypersonic passenger service remains a 2040s ambition at best.

The Pope
Morality

The pope's 42,000-word verdict on AI

Pope Leo XIV just released Magnifica Humanitas, his first encyclical, to the Church's 1.4B members, warning that a moral AI means nothing "if that morality is determined by a few" and calling to "disarm" the tech before it dominates humanity. Leo warned that AI's drivers are private, transnational companies that already surpass the capacity of many governments, and that the tech is never neutral. On warfare, he said lethal decisions must never be delegated to AI and that "no algorithm can make war morally acceptable."

Nvidia smashes another earnings report as it becomes the world's first $5 trillion company

Nvidia reported $81.6B in Q1 revenue last week, up 85% YoY, and ahead of Wall Street's already-lofty expectations. Continued AI demand has lifted Nvidia's stock nearly 60% over the past year, helping it become the first company ever to clear a $5 trillion market cap. It now accounts for roughly 8% of the S&P 500, the largest weight any single stock has ever held.

Keeping conversations real on LinkedIn

LinkedIn wants to preserve authenticity in professional conversations as AI-generated "low-effort" content becomes more common. The platform warns that overuse of AI can dilute real human insight and is rolling out systems to detect and reduce distribution of generic or automated posts and comments. Early testing shows it can identify such content with 94% accuracy, limiting its reach beyond immediate networks.
